If you want to add an expense in another currency and not in your base currency than you have to choose the currency you want (here US dollar). Beneath you will see the exchange rate (here from USD to EUR). The amount will be also translated to your base currency. See here how to change the base currency.
When you want to export your expenses than you will receive the data only in the selected currency and not in your base currency.
